My all-inclusive list of reasons people make fun of Justin Bieber

If you make fun of Justin Bieber because…

…you don’t like his music- Do you make fun of every other artist whose music you don’t like? If not, then that’s not the reason.

…he’s young and successful- You’re jealous that someone younger and less experienced than you is fortunate enough to have found success doing something he loves. If not, then that’s not the reason.

…he acts like a douchebag- Someone make a list of pop/rap artists who act like douchebags so you can make fun of all of them equally, otherwise, that’s not the reason.

…he thinks he’s “ghetto” but he’s white- I don’t think I need to explain how incredibly racist this mindset is. Your behavior/attitude is not affected by nor is it a cause of your skin color, and to imply that it is makes a mockery of the years of civil rights struggles and holds our society back from realizing true equality.

…he has long hair for a boy and a high voice because he is young- I’m sure your voice was as deep as James Earl Jones’ when you were his age. And joking that a boy looks like a girl because of his hairstyle is not only a completely archaic insult, but is horribly disrespectful of the transgender community.

…he’s 12 years old- First of all, if he was, then you should be in awe of his level of talent and his astronomical success. A 2-second google search will tell you he is currently 17 years old, but he was still more talented at 12 than anyone I know.

In conclusion, every time you make fun of Justin Bieber, you are doing so either to fit in with everyone else who is doing so (because putting other people down makes us look cool, right?) or because you’re a vicious bully and need to deride other people to make yourself feel more important.

There is no excuse for bullying EVER and I’m fucking sick of hearing people saddened about the suicides of young gay people across the country who were tormented by their peers and then turning around and calling Justin Bieber a fag.
